A meaningful event was organised by the Special Education Teaching Club in order to ensure the active participation of individuals with different developmental characteristics and individual needs in educational processes, to create equal opportunities and to contribute to social integration. Dr Vasfiye Karabıyık, an expert in the field of special education, took part in the event as a speaker.

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Karabıyık drew attention to the diversity of students in general education classes. He emphasised that the presence of students with learning difficulties, individuals with autism spectrum disorders, visual or hearing impairments in the classroom has increased and this situation makes integration practices in education compulsory.

Referring to the importance of physical environment adaptations, Karabıyık stated that classrooms should be organised in an accessible way. He stated that the use of visual materials suitable for the individual needs of students, the prevention of distracting sounds and the creation of soundproofed areas when necessary will improve the quality of the learning environment.
